Inspirational!
Modern Art Oxford is one of the UK’s leading contemporary art spaces which encourages public engagement with creativity and the arts.
The gallery has a rolling programme of temporary exhibitions which are then reflected in The Creative Space for families, which is child friendly and interactive. The newest exhibition in the main gallery is Frieda Toranzo Jaeger: A future in the light of darkness. Expect intricately embroidered multi-panel paintings remix iconography from western art history with indigenous techniques to subvert and challenge dominant power structures and historical narratives.
How does Frieda Toranzo Jaeger translate in the Creative Space? Creative Space will feature a buildable collective sculpture, reflecting on Frieda’s use of embroidery to join, hold, and at points, disrupt elements of her work – you are invited to help build it! A great way for all ages to respond creatively!
Modern Art Oxford also has an excellent paid early years offer: Make Play. Make Play Spring sessions will take place in the Creative Space offering different experimental activities for children aged between 6 months and 5 years to explore with their parent and/or carer. Book online to secure your place.
Mind opening and mind blowing.
