The bluebells are out from about early April at Badbury Clumps and and it’s absolutely mind blowing. My pictures can’t capture the depth and scale of the bluebells so I advise you to simply go here and enjoy nature at its very best! This is why visitors travel for miles to visit Badbury Clump, believed to be amongst one of the best places to view them in the UK. The bluebells are considered to be at the best in May but can be a good show from April.
Follow the paths around the four different sections, each vantage point will give you new appreciation. And the smell! Such a sweet smell , and the vivid colour – a walk through a bluebell field really is an assault on the senses. There are lots of walks in the vicinity too, plus an amazing mountain bike trail, although it looks like it’s for the more experienced riders as they pelt down the hill at some pace!
Only 7 minutes away from Badbury Clump is Faringdon Folly Tower – an enchanting natural playground for young children, or Faringdon Cycle Park: designed as a mini Faringdon with local landmarks, road markings and landscapes. A perfect place to learn to pedal and increase road awareness.
Peak times for visiting to see the bluebells in flower are usually weekends and the May Bank Holiday from late morning to early afternoon. Try and visit outside of these times for a more relaxed experience.
