This ancient woodland, once part of the Royal Forest of Bernwood, is a mixture of ash, field maple, aspen, hazel and oak along with blackthorn, hawthorn, spindle and a few old hornbeams – the perfect hiding place for deer and wild boar. And this is a splashy adventure so be sure to bring wellies and waterproofs! There are many shallow wading opportunities, as well as trees to climb and lots of space to run wild. In spring you will see wildflowers and bluebells and summer brings butterflies, including the rate purple emperor and black hairstreak. As yu can see from the photos below we have visied in all seasons and loved every minute of it.
