Appleton Christmas Barn

Appleton Christmas Barn

Date of Adventure: 22 Oct, 2024

The Christmas floodgates open when Appleton Christmas Barn opens for business on the 14th November! And we are not ashamed to say that we will be one of the first in the door.

Appleton Christmas barn is way more than a barn with thousands of decorations (although that’s pretty magical in itself), there are also reindeers to meet, who are happy to be photographed, and Christmas trees to buy. Persuade the children to sit in one of the sleighs in front of the pen for the perfect Christmas pic to send around to the fam.

There is every decoration you could imagine here and the barn has such a lovely twinkly feeling of Christmas magic Beware of little hands though, lots of breakables at small child height. I think they may actually be pumping out some sort of Christmas elixir in there:  cloves, cinnamon and orange – it smells so festive it will make you want to buy everything!

You don’t have to spend a lot here, in fact you don’t have to spend anything as it’s free, but for many it’s a Christmas tradition to buy a tree and let the children choose a decoration. There is such a huge selection and we’ve amassed quite a few weird and wonderful decorations over the years – they always make us smile when we pull them out of the Christmas box.

Too early in November for a good few hours of excellent free festive fun? Nah! Get involved – you know you want to!

If your little elves still need a run around after then head down to the road to Jubilee Park or Besselsleigh Wood, only 1 minute drive away. Or is it’s December then the Besselsleigh Village Christmas lights drive-thru is the place for you. Simply magical.

Did you

Know?

Oxford Preservation Trust bought the Victoria Arms pub in 1959 to save the nearly derelict building. Now fully renovated, this rural gem re-opened in 1984. It's still standing proud and serving Oxford’s pub-goers every day!

Fancy buying me a ko-fi?

Want to support my work?

Feel free to buy me a (strong!) coffee, it will help fuel my adventures near and far. Support can come in many form though: sharing my website in your school WhatsApp group or liking a Facebook post is equally appreciated.
