If you are off to the Reindeer Challenge at Bunkers Hill then you are really in for a Christmas treat! We weren’t sure if they could surpass the pumpkin hunt – but they have! The set up at the front is photo opp heaven and in the meadow it’s go big or go home with a sleigh, igloo, penguins, Christmas trees, reindeers – prime the camera phone, no Christmas filters needed!
Inside the nursery it’s looking pretty festive too with twinkly lights and a beautiful selection of fruit wreaths plus lots of animal decorations, of which you will have to show some serious restraint not to buy them all! Plus of course there’s the reindeer trail; find them all, each one with a letter hung around its neck, and unscramble the words to claim your prize; usually seeds, a little potted plant and a sweetie. Don’t deny yourself one of their Christmas biscuits – enjoy it with a hot chocolate from the tea room.
There’s a feeling that Bunkers Hill fills me with and it’s quite wonderful. I’m not sure if it’s from stepping into somewhere so lovingly tended, the way that you are greeted as if you are old friends, or maybe it’s how the owners and staff share in the excitement of the children tearing around looking for the reindeers. Whatever it is, this is one Christmas tradition we repeat again and again.
