Chequers Valley Family Walk

Chequers Valley Family Walk

Date of Adventure: 22 Jul, 2023

Absolutely unreal walk! I found it on my Ordnance Survey app (free to download – link to the walk here) and it ticked all the boxes: circular, relatively short (nearly 5k), and off road. What the app didn’t tell me was that it’s absolutely stunning too! You will walk through the very best of the English countryside including woodland, meadows and open farmland. Expect to see sheep, horseback riders, red kites, deer and stags.

It is so easy to navigate (important when trying to keep sight of galloping children!) and was enjoyed by all from small to big. You may need a few pit stops and bring a suitcase full of snacks for the final kilometre, but there weren’t many complaints as we moved from field to woodland to meadow. It took us just over 2 hours to complete and there are a fair few long inclines, but it is worth it to be surrounded by the views. It’s hard to believe it’s only 20 mins away from Oxford!

If you are looking for more family friendly walks in the Chilterns, check out these from the Chiltern Society.
