Combe Playground

Combe Playground

Date of Adventure: 22 Oct, 2023

This playground in Combe is so good and it’s set within such a beautiful chocolate box village. I am desperate to immerse myself in village life; I have dreams of cricket matches on the green, afternoon teas in the village hall and summer fetes complete with homemade preserves and chutneys. I basically want to live some sort of Midsomer Murder life, but without the murders bit.

The huge village green expanse sets this dream up beautifully! The tractor is the star for many children such fun (why do parents always have to play the cattle in the trailer?!) and the slide is seriously fast. There’s also nature play with boulders and logs to balance on and a sandpit under the rope pyramid climbing net. The playground stalwarts of swings and zip wire are still popular and the old school horse was good for a gallop! The lovely locals were friendly and chatty and my eldest enjoyed an impromptu football match with a new friend; meeting nice people really does make my day.

Also passing through this area is the Wychwood Way, a 60k circular walk around the ancient forest of Wychwood. It takes in Blenheim, Stonesfield, Chadlington, Ascott-under-Wychwood, Leafield, Ramsden, North Leigh, East End and Combe. I’m going to tackle it in chunks with my walking buddy – expect another post incoming!

Other gems nearby? The Combe gate entrance to Blenheim Estate and Combe Mill. Lots to fill a weekend with!
