East Hanney Play Area

East Hanney Play Area

Date of Adventure: 27 Jan, 2024

What a play area! After significant investment from the local parish council last year this play area has been updated and extended. There’s just so much to list including a long (and challenging!) obstacle course, freestanding balance beams and climbing frames, springers, toddler stations with a play hut, music panels and sensory wheels, zip wire, bucket swing and seesaw – as well as the original playground with play equipment that is still in good working order! There’s also a new MUGA for ball games and huge playing fields perfect for a kickabout or a dog walk.

But really, you are here for the fox, right? Well, I’ve never seen anything like this before: a huge fox play sculpture that you can climb all over! Scramble up the tail then manoeuvre across the nets on to the head and wave to those below – Fantastic Mr Fox indeed.

There’s lots of other interesting things in the local area, including Letcombe Brook, a rare chalk stream that runs from Letcombe Regis to East Hanney. The Letcombe Brook website has lots of walks on it and is worth a look. We planned to go exploring on our visit but I couldn’t tear the children away from the playground! Definitely one for another day!
