Glympton Estate

Glympton Estate

Date of Adventure: 7 Sep, 2023

We absolutely recommend this lovely gallop around Glympton; it’s such a tonic!

This walk follows public footpaths through gorgeous countryside, lanes and tall grass; the terrain is varied and exciting and the wildlife to spot is immense. You will never have seen so many pheasants in your life! Running out of the grass, chasing each other across meadows, standing blithely in the middle of the road. Wear long trousers as the stingers can be out in force here, but don’t just walk: stop, look up, look out, take in the landscape and the views; you could be staring into a painting such is the depth and spectacle of the countryside scene.

We followed this route posted on the All Trails app (free to download) which takes in the Glympton and Kiddington Estates but you can do as much or as little as you like. We have already explored the Kiddington Estate, and highly recommend it. A great longer walk would be to take in both estates and stop in for excellent tea and cake from the Glympton Post Office. We have sampled their rocky road and currant bun and enjoyed it sitting in the boot of the car with our feet dangling over the edge and the sun on our faces.

Know?

Tracey Emin’s first British exhibition since 1997 was at Modern Art Oxford in 2002 and drew together the artist's now iconic neon wall hangings, drawings, etchings, film works, and a large scale sculpture installation of a pier and shack made from reclaimed timber.
