Skate the Estate

Skate the Estate

Date of Adventure: 27 Nov, 2025

We tried something a bit different – a new ice skating rink at a huge Christmas tree farm at Yattendon Estate.

Christmas ice skating has always been a big family tradition for me since childhood and as I’m originally from London we always had a big selection to choose from!

With three wobbly skaters in tow, off we went! It’s not a huge ice rink, but for me that was good news as it’s not too overwhelming for my crew with lots of skaters. It’s set under a gorgeous stretch tent and surrounded by alpine-style huts selling food and drink, and Christmas trees. It’s so festive and the Christmas music is on repeat! There’s also benches with blankets to sit at and spectators enter for free.

The boys skated, fell (lots!), laughed their heads off plus got some good tips and pointers from the staff about how to skate unaided. My youngest enjoyed being chauffeured around on the skate aid at speed until he worked up the confidence to stand up. Loved the huge SKATE sign for photo opps too – defo Somerset House vibes! We all had an incredible time. And I didn’t fall over once, just saying.

On a day booking you can visit the Christmas shop and buy a Christmas tree if you so fancy. This place supplies trees to all the supermarkets – this month they have shifted 300,000!! Keep your eye on the Skate the Estate Facebook page for discount codes!

I spy a new Christmas tradition heading our way!
