Water Eaton

Water Eaton

Date of Adventure: 27 Sep, 2023

Water Eaton is a great place for a walk, cycle and scoot and also a great big secret. Luckily a friend recommended it as somewhere for the children to practice their cycling and scooting, so we’re sharing this gem with you too.

You essentially follow the concrete path up and around a field, over the A34 (stop and wave at the lorries, they love to honk their horns back!) and through some more fields, gates and countryside. If you stick to the bridleway all the way around then you will eventually come out onto Oxford Road, or go half way and turn back. There’s some pretty good hills to whizz down on the way too!

Is the noise from the nearby A34 intrusive? A bit, yes. Is it the most beautiful scenery? Nope. It’s no Phoenix Trail, but what it does allow, due to its openness, is the children to go that bit further ahead on their bikes or scooters because you can keep them in eyesight.
If you have a mix of ages and have to stick with the smallest then it’s gold.

The constant flow of dog walkers, runners and families tell me that this is a well loved route – we’re sure it will become a favourite of yours too.
