Wells Farm Poppy Field, Little Milton

Wells Farm Poppy Field, Little Milton

Date of Adventure: 9 Jun, 2024

A stunning poppy field at Wells Farm in Little Milton, full to the brim with poppies!

Thousands upon thousands upon thousands of poppies! We’ve never actually seen anything like it, they stretched so far and swathed the field in a blanket of red. We heard about this from somebody in our community and raced down to see it! It runs alongside a path that leads to Great Haseley (lovely windmill there) and you can either walk or cycle.

It’s part of Wells Farm, a local nature reserve on a working farm (keep dogs on a short leash) which is managed by Berks, Bucks and Oxford Wildlife Trusts. You can enter the reserve from various places. We follow the Wildlife Walk, which is only 0.5 miles so great for little legs, however this won’t give you direct access to the wildflower field, although you will be able to see it from behind a fence. Instead, we parked up at the Little Milton Village Shop (there’s an excellent park behind the shop) and walked across the road to Old Field, where you will see the field at the end of the cul-de-sac.

Locals say this the best year they had seen in over 30 years! Poppies bloom from June – August so you have a great window to see them!
