A real little secret and one that we are excited to share with you! A gorgeous kitchen garden complete with restaurant, shop and café – and I am inclined to say that this is one for the Big Oxplorers.
A seven acre market garden serving a seasonal, hyper-local menu. This is true farm to fork dining. The kitchen is supplied from the gardens which combine field crops, poly tunnels, an orchard and bee hives. The diversity of produce is quite something and you can taste the quality within the food. This secluded area is bursting with colourful borders, unusual flowers and the sweet aroma of summer blooms too.
We love to visit for coffee and cake and, in the warmer weather, sit outside amongst nature at a simple table with freshly picked flowers. There is also the option of dining inside the glasshouse, which is pretty lovely too. I went with my then 2 year old but after a few bites of cake he was rampaging through the gardens like Peter Rabbit! Whilst the advantages are that I then get to eat his cake as well as mine, it’s not quite the demure and relaxed manner in which I like to to enjoy my coffee. In short, visit with friends!
As well as the coffee and cake sitting they also offer a lunch menu, aperitivo (so grown up!!) and dinner sitting. I am here for all of these! Check out the menu, it is insanely good! There is a shop where you can buy freshly baked bread, fruit, veg, herbs, cheese, drinks and honey produced on site too. I spent approximately £75 million in there and could have spent more on the cheese alone – it’s impressive stuff!
If you have ever had the joy of Petersham Nurseries (Richmond and Covent Garden) then this is of the same ilk, but in mini form. Unbelievably lovely and wholesome – take a grown up and enjoy.
