👩🏻‍🌾 Earth Trust Spring Festival

The Spring Festival is back again with calves, sheep and newborn lambs. The Owl Conservation project will also  be there, as well as beekeepers. Story times, and games in the field too!

💦The Splash Pad at St Edmunds Park

It’s open! This fab nature-inspired splash pad re-opened on Friday and will be keeping us cool until the end of summer. Love the amount of splash pads that we have! Splash pad crawl anyone?!

🐏 Oxford City Farm: Family Friendly Day

Get your wellies on and get down to the farm to see the animals. There are 12 new chicks, new pigs, goats and their kids and sheep. Walk the Wildlife Walk amongst the chickens and peep at the beehives.  There’s also an area for free play and much to learn about farm to fork in the vegetable patch. Community farming – we love you!

💦Hinksey Splash Pad and Hinksey Open Air Pool 

I’m not sure if 21 degrees is going to entice me into any sort of water activities but you can bet that your kids will be interested (it’s all that no coats in the dead of winter training!) Get a free More Membership to book the pool. The brand spanking new Splash Park and Mini Wheels Track next door is free and doesn’t require booking.

🚲Oxford Wheels Project: Beginners and Improvers BMX Coaching Sessions

If you have never been to the Meadow Lane Skate Park then get yourself down there pronto; it’s open from 10am until dusk and is run by volunteers of the Oxford Wheels Project. They do all sorts of coaching there from Beginners BMX to Skateboarding for children and adults.  The bowl has a lot of bumps and corners to pump around and there’s a good selection of obstacles. The first BMX sessions start on Saturday 3rd and there’s sessions for beginners and improvers.

🚂Pendon Museum

Love this museum! Rural scenes and transport of the 1920s and 30s in a miniature form. Our favourite is the Vale scene; so realistic and the small details are insane! A must for train enthusiasts. Check out the website where there are videos of the locomotives moving through the scenes.

🗼Faringdon Folly Tower

It’s open! 100 feet high with panoramic views – will you climb to the top of the tower? If heights aren’t you bag then stay on the ground and enjoy the free woodland sculpture trail…who will find all of them?

🍃May Nature Day at Kate’s Place

A chance to connect with nature with activities such as seed planting, painting, cooking on the open fire and a chance to spot our resident tadpoles in the wildlife pond. It’s free to attend and everyone is welcome.

🛹Oxford Wheels Project: Beginners Skateboarding Sessions

Meadow Lane Skate Park is open for business. Skateboarding business. 30-minute sessions cater to complete beginners and those who have some experience and want to progress further. If you can stand on a board and want to learn the next steps, this is the perfect starting point.

🚂 Cutteslowe Miniature Railway

Such a lovely miniature railway experience and with the track extension it’s great value for money too. There is SO much to do at Cutteslowe park: numerous playgrounds, huge sandpit, free splash park (now open!), crazy golf, tennis courts, wildlife area, duck pond, beach volleyball court, café and more! It’s easily a whole day adventure!

🚌Oxford Bus Museum: FREE heritage bus rides

FREE heritage bus rides at 12.15pm and 2.15pm.  The museum houses a collection of historic buses, coaches and trams plus a model railway too. Super fun and interesting for the whole family!

MONDAY 5th MAY

 

For info: Bannister Community Mile is on and there will be a mass participation run down Oxford High Street, finishing on Iffley Road (by the Roger Bannister track) between 9am – 11am. Road closures will be in place. 

 

🫡VE Day Flypast 

Look up! As part of the VE Day celebrations there will be a formation of military aircraft flying over Buckingham Palace, which will then disperse and fly over other areas…including Oxford! From this map it looks like it will be between 1.45 – 2.25pm so keep your ears open – I’m sure we’ll hear them before we see them!

🐏 Common Leys Farm Country Fayre 

Meet the animals including sheep and lambs, mare and foals, ferrets, meerkats, donkeys, rodents and more! There will also be pony rides, bouncy castles, vintage tractors and the chance to seed some animals.

Family Dance Party 10th May 

Body Politic have partnered once again with Dancin’ Oxford and The North Wall to bring you a special Family Dance Party in Cutteslowe. Join for a ‘hip-hopping, toe-tapping’ daytime disco for all of the family. Featuring a live DJ, party games, bubbles and disco lights and more!

Bridewell Open Day 11th May
