Your guide to family friendly activities in Oxford this weekend – don’t forget to scroll down to the bottom for things to get booking now.

Jericho Fest runs the whole weekend with the Jericho Street Fair on Saturday and Run Jericho on Sunday with a 10k and 5k distance plus a children’s 1 mile run too.

Great Big Green Week is a go all across the UK from the 8th – 16th June. It’s the UK’s celebration of community action – and we have a lot to celebrate here in Oxford! Visit the website, choose your local area and attend an event.

Oxford Pride celebrates it’s 21st anniversary with a multitude of events happening across the city, including a big parade. June is Pride month, so check out the website for more over the next month.




🍃Hill End: Ffennell Festival

An excellent, excellent day of outdoor family fun! And SO many activities: pond dipping, bushcraft, natural arts, bee keeping & bugs, circus skills, Real Kingdoms Adventures, Oxford Sailing, WW1 history tours, whittling skills, story telling and much more! Hill End has been providing our children with outdoor activities for so long – let’s support them right back! Online ticket sales closed but gate tickets available on the day.

🌳Boundary Brook Nature Reserve Open Day

Exciting afternoon and activities on the nature reserve as part of Great Big Green Week. Get involved and join for nature walks, Art in Nature, wildlife trail and peg and spoon carving. All welcome!

🦆Jemima Puddle Duck presented by Quantum Theatre

Outdoor theatre – do we dare? Yes! Quantum Theatre presents a delightful new adaptation of Beatrix Potter’s much-loved tale  – The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck, in the beautiful setting of Waterperry’s very own 300-seater amphitheatre.

🐷Open Farm Sunday

Open Farm Sunday is about giving vis­i­tors the oppor­tu­ni­ty to learn more about farm­ing and the coun­try­side – through fun activities – and farm­ers the chance to talk about what they’re so proud of: British food and farming! 👨‍🌾Bridewell Gardens Open Day

A secret garden and labour of love, it’s amazing what has been achieved here! Bridewell provides social and therapeutic horticulture for people enduring mental health issues, helping them move forwards with recovery. Their Open Days are wonderful and children are most welcome to run around the five acre walled gardens and vineyards. The exceptionally friendly chickens will be very pleased to meet you!

💨 Wheatley Windmill Open Day

Wheatley Windmill, one of only two working windmills in Oxfordshire, is open on Sunday and it’s free to visit! Children are most welcome and will love climbing the three staircases up to the top of this fully restored stone tower windmill.

🎭 Cornerstone Arts Centre: The Selfish Giant

Ever heard Oscar Wilde’s The Selfish Giant story? It’s a lovely tale about about the transformative power of love and kindness. 🚲Historic Cycle Day at the Oxford Bus Company

It’s a busy day at the museum for two wheeled adventurers! There’s over 50 cycles to see, including William Morris’s first bicycle! There’s also displays by the Veteran-Cycle Club and talks on the development of bikes.

Arboretum Adventures for Under 5s 12th June 

Den building, crafts, scavenger hunts, trails and stories. £7 per child (under-2s and accompanying adults free). Sounds like a wonderful adventure!

Thames Valley Orienteering: Saturday series at University Parks 15th June 

We LOVE the Saturday series – really family friendly orienteering races at locations that you are probably familiar with! An exciting introduction to orienteering, and aimed at children, families, beginners and improvers of all ages. Book your place in advance, right up to the morning of the race. Distances: 1.6km, 2.8km and 5km.

FloFest 22nd June

A real highlight in the Oxford summer events calendar. There is so much going on at this FREE local festival at Florence Park  – visit the website to see the full line-up. It’s a volunteer run, non profit festival and any money raised gets put back into making the following year even better!

South Oxfordshire Adventure Playground (SOAP) 50th Birthday Bash 29th June 

SOAP is a local charity run by volunteers & paid sessional staff, providing free, inclusive, supervised, adventurous outdoor play and activities. On the 29th June join the 50th birthday bash celebrating the incredible work of SOAP. This Birthday Bonanza features live music, play activities and a special exhibition about SOAP’s history. Donate here to keep this very special place alive and kicking.
