Your guide to family friendly activities in Oxford this weekend – don’t forget to scroll down to the bottom for things to get in your diary now!

 

It’s Father’s Day on Sunday and there’s free entry for dads at the Oxford Bus Museum (and free cake too!), Hogshaw Farm, Beale Wildlife Park and Cotswold Farm Park. Book ahead for Cotswold Farm Park as this whole weekend deal is likely to be popular.

🧭Thames Valley Orienteering at University Parks

Family friendly orienteering aimed at children, families, beginners and improvers of all ages. Distances: 2km, 3.5km and 5km. This event is PRE-ENTRY only. Booking link below is open until 11am on race day.

🐦Pitt Rivers Museum: Hawaiian Bird Finger Puppet and Mask Craft Activity

Join in the Old Library at the Pitt Rivers Museum to learn about Hawaiian Forest Birds and ways to protect them, whilst making Hawaiian bird finger puppets and masks.

🥳Wallingford Carnival

Love a carnival! The parade procession starts at 1pm in Hithercroft Rd. Also celebrating 100 years of Wallingford fire station with demos and bouncy castles. Looks like a fun packed day!

💨Combe Mill: Environment Day

Industry in action! It’s Steaming Day at the Mill! Blacksmiths in the Forge and a new tinkering area for younger visitors. Outside of the Mill a Repair Café will be open to all.- bring your broken toys! Free cream tea for dads to celebrate Father’s Day!

🥥Cogges Farm: Summer Fete

We loved this old skool fun at the farm. There’s all sorts on including ferret racing 😬, disco bouncy castle, Olympics on the lawn, coconut shy, hook a duck, meet the animals, craft activities, BBQ and more!

🚌Oxford Bus Museum: Cake and buses

Cake and buses you say?! What a combo! As well as all the usual interesting finds inside this wonderful museum and FREE heritage bus rides, dads also get FREE entry and a FREE slice of cake!

☀️Barracks Lane Community Gardens: Welcome to Summer

Part of Big Green Week. We love this community garden and if you live in Oxford you will have gone to a birthday party there! Lots of activities to enjoy including storytelling, floral crown making, Pizza Midwife DIY pizzas and composting and wormery workshop. All free!

Harcourt Arboretum: ‘Here comes the sun’ Family Day 31st July

A day of seasonal activities about what the trees, plants and animals are doing in summer. There will be trails, tours, and nature crafts for all ages. The Sylva Wood School will be showcasing their work and running hands-on activities to take part in. No booking required but get it in the diary!

FloFest 22nd June

A real highlight in the Oxford summer events calendar. There is so much going on at this FREE local festival at Florence Park  – visit the website to see the full line-up. It’s a volunteer run, non profit festival and any money raised gets put back into making the following year even better!

South Oxfordshire Adventure Playground (SOAP) 50th Birthday Bash 29th June 

SOAP is a local charity run by volunteers & paid sessional staff, providing free, inclusive, supervised, adventurous outdoor play and activities. On the 29th June join the 50th birthday bash celebrating the incredible work of SOAP. This Birthday Bonanza features live music, play activities and a special exhibition about SOAP’s history. Donate here to keep this very special place alive and kicking.
