Faringdon Cycle Park

Faringdon Cycle Park

Date of Adventure: 16 Oct, 2022

If your child is hitting that big milestone of learning to ride a bike then this is where you want to come with them.

Faringdon Cycle Park is designed as a mini village with landscaping and road markings, a perfect introduction to road awareness without the danger. My eldest son learnt to ride here and it’s ideal terrain for little falls and wobbles along the way whilst the mini local landmarks around the track make it so interesting. Grown ups can pretend to be pedestrians on the zebra crossing, although slightly terrifying at times if your little one hasn’t quite got a handle on the brakes.

A special mention has to go to the team from Farcycles, the local cycling charity, who had the idea, designed, planned, financed (by generous grants and donations) and managed the project. Do keep an eye on their facebook page for free cycle training courses for children from beginner balance bikers up to intermediate children’s sessions.

Visit nearby Faringdon Folly Tower and woodland whilst you are there, you’ll be able to see it from the bike park, and enjoy the wooden sculpture trail amongst the trees, balancing on the wooden beams and stepping logs, sitting on the toadstools or simply take in the panoramic views.

Fancy buying me a ko-fi?

Want to support my work?

Feel free to buy me a (strong!) coffee, it will help fuel my adventures near and far. Support can come in many form though: sharing my website in your school WhatsApp group or liking a Facebook post is equally appreciated.
