Stonesfield Dinosaur Walk

Stonesfield Dinosaur Walk

Date of Adventure: 9 Jun, 2026

Did you know there’s a walk in Oxfordshire where dinosaur history began?

It’s not every day you stroll past the site of the first scientifically named dinosaur… well, not unless you’re in Stonesfield, Oxfordshire.

6 children, a dinosaur site, a Roman villa and some pub chips (always, you know us!). Not your average weekend stroll, but a superbly interesting one!

🛝We started at Stonesfield playground (great play area and free parking)
🚶‍♀️Wandered through the gorgeous village
🦕Marvelled at the Stonesfield dinosaur find site
💦Passed a popular summer swimming spot (always check Surfers Against Sewage before getting in anywhere!)
🥾Stomped through fields and over bridges
🧱Nosed around the North Leigh Roman Villa
🍺Pit-stopped at The White Horse on the way back for pub chips and lemonades

This is the walk that inspired us – ours was slightly different (playground and pub stop) but it’s a great starting point.

In 2021 Farcycles, the organisation behind Faringdon Cycle Park, were the recipients of the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service in recognition of service to the local community. Bravo!
