The Medley, Port Meadow

The Medley, Port Meadow

Date of Adventure: 18 May, 2026

The Medley – the most Oxford of sunny hotspots.

I caveat this post with a public announcement: on a sunny day, the whole of Oxford will be here.

The Medley re-opened for the season about a month ago and we hot-footed it down on the first sunny day. Straight in for the wood-fired pizza, and as always they did not disappoint.

Queues were big, but we had a seasoned pro in our group who got there early and ordered before we’d even arrived (highly recommend this approach!).
The tables right by the river are prime (gorgeous views!) and the first to go, but we brought a blanket and found a shady spot instead – perfect for our large crew. It gets busy quickly when the sun’s out, so earlier is definitely better if you want a table.

Families, groups, kids, dogs… everyone was there making the most of the sunshine, and even early evening it wasn’t slowing down.
