🌿 Harcourt Arboretum: Spring Fair 

An annual highlight! Creative workshops and crafting activities for all ages, as well as farmyard animals, bird of prey display, woodwork, music and theatre. Lots for your bucks! Usual food and drink on offer too as well as the bluebells and ninja style obstacle course. This is always well attended and there’s a free shuttle bus from Redbridge Park and Ride.

➗Oxford Maths Festival at Templars Square shopping centre 

Hands-on mathematical games and activities. Play games, explore historical mathematical items from the History of Science Museum, and try a range of puzzles. This event features content inspired by Magic Mathworks and Mathematical artefacts from the History of Science Museum.

🎂 Barracks Lane: 20th Anniversary Party 

A contained community garden with so much love poured into it! Been a regular for years. They are celebrating in style with a packed day of activities: nature, woodcraft, storytelling, face painting, drumming, pizza and loads more.

🧭Thames Valley Orienteering Club: Run the Parks (Cutteslowe)

Big fans of this Saturday series and easy access to orienteering for all the family.  Short routes start at 1.2k with controls on every junction, so little navigation required. Run the Parks is a a series of 5 adventure races around the picturesque parks and areas around Oxford, all family friendly. No entry on day so book ahead!

🧵 Florence Park Community Centre: Free Repair Café 

Not really one for the kids, but I find these things so useful! Experts will be on hand to test and fix your electrical appliances, sharpen your knives plus minor sewing and darning. Repair it, don’t throw it!

🐏 Oxford City Farm: Family Friendly Day

Lambs has arrived, the chickens are out of lockdown and the sheep, goats and pigs can’t wait to meet you!  There’s an area for free play and much to learn about farm to fork in the vegetable patch. Community farming – we love you! Bring a bag as they sell farms wares on a Saturday, now that’s shopping local.

Town and Gown on – good luck everyone taking part! Expect road closures from 8am – 12.30pm

 

🚴 Kidical Mass Cycle:

A fun, free and family friendly mass ride into the city! Kidical Mass rides call for safer, better and cleaner streets for kids and grown-ups. No need to book, just come along. Riders leave at 2pm from Florence Park, Cutteslowe School, Makespace, Jericho , Manor Surgery, Headington and Oatlands Rec before meeting at Gloucester Green for a cycle around the city at 3pm. Pedal power! ✊

💨Wheatley Windmill open day

A lovely local windmill experience! One of only two working windmills in Oxfordshire – don’t miss this opportunity to climb to the top and savour the views! The mill is dated to at least 1671 and was left in various states of ruin before being restored by a dedicated group of volunteers: Wheatley Windmill Restoration, then Preservation, Society. Come hungry because fundraising coffee, tea and cakes are on offer! Whilst in Wheatly why not visit the newly refurbished Church Rd Rec!

🛹 Oxford Wheels Project: Beginners Skateboard sessions 

These 30-minute sessions are for complete beginners and those who have some experience and want to learn a bit more. If your child can stand on a board and want to learn the next steps, this is the perfect starting point. They’ll teach them how to push and coast, turn, and gain confidence on a board and also cover skatepark etiquette and awareness. If they have your own skateboard and pads, please bring them along. However, they do offer boards and protective gear for hire if needed (£2). You can do this with your child too, plenty do, and nothing gives children more joy than seeing a parent fall over!
