The Wild Pig Farm Shop

The Wild Pig Farm Shop

Date of Adventure: 30 Jul, 2023

Formerly The Crazy Bear Farm, shop and café, now The Wild Pig Farm Shop! A hidden gems in Stadhampton, just behind the Crazy Bear Hotel. It’s an opportunity for little ones to get up close-up with animals: pigs and piglets, sheep, goats and llamas (watch out, they spit!) which roam free in 80 acres. The Farm Shop is something else with fresh fish, butchers, daily artisan bread baked on the premises, cheese and charcuterie, homemade delights and wine! The Wild Pig also does hot air balloon rides – I won’t lie, this isn’t for me as I don’t have the head for heights but the pictures look amazing!

The path beyond the big gate by the shop leads to woodlands by a stream, follow that around and you will come to the start of the Ascott Park Historical Trail through meadows, woodland and tall grass. There are various points of interest along the 2 mile circular walk, like a 16th century dovecot, these are sign posted with information, but it it’s the beautiful surroundings that will capture you the most.

If you fancy a shorter wander then bypass the stile to the start of the Ascott Park walk and keep going – you will see lots of impressive fairy doors on the way – follow the path until you see a left turn to cut across a big field. This will lead you to the village green where you will find the newly spruced up Stadhampton playground!

On Saturday and Sunday there is a charge for parking: £5 per car, fully refundable on purchases over £10 in the Wild Pig Shop.

Know?

Tracey Emin’s first British exhibition since 1997 was at Modern Art Oxford in 2002 and drew together the artist's now iconic neon wall hangings, drawings, etchings, film works, and a large scale sculpture installation of a pier and shack made from reclaimed timber.
