Hinksey Heights Nature Trail

Hinksey Heights Nature Trail

Date of Adventure: 31 Jul, 2023

You’ll know from our Facebook feed that we are obsessed with boardwalk and you’ll see from our pics that we are most definitely in our happy place at Hinksey Heights! We absolutely stampeded down there when we saw that they had completed a big stretch of the boardwalk, and they have just kept going!  Work has been ongoing throughout the whole of 2024 and the progress has been incredible!

Follow the map around the circular trail through the 12 hectare site which has diverse habitats of fen and reedbeds, wet woodlands and grasslands. Keep your eyes peeled for cuckoos, green woodpeckers, bullfinches, deer and red kites. Don’t forget to stop and look at the stunning views down into the city of Oxford too! And you may spy a sprinkling of fairy magic too…✨

Bravo to all the dedicated volunteers who have given their time and efforts to repair and extend the boardwalk; this ensures that the diverse land and nature within can be enjoyed by many.

Link up to nearby Chilswell Valley (known locally as Happy Valley) for an extended circular walk; you will need at least 2 hours for this longer loop.
