Fox and Hounds, Christmas Common

Fox and Hounds, Christmas Common

Date of Adventure: 7 Nov, 2025

The cosy pub and walk series continues!

It’s another Brakspear pub because let’s be honest, when it takes about 6 months to actually secure a date for a meet up with friends the last thing you want to do is then be looking about for the nearest local walk – the Brakspear pub trails app and website gives you circular walks from its pubs and they are free to access.

It’s winter so Christmas Common is where you want to be and the Fox & Hounds, at the foot of the Chiltern Hills, has both a pub, views and walks to die for. It’s like a tardis in the pub with cosy nooks on different levels and kitsch decor. There’s roaring fires, a menu that screams cold weather (apple crumble delights and more) and a very welcoming pub dog. After a fantastic lunch take your pic of one of the many nearby walks. We chose route 2:  circular pub walk through woodland, field, bridleway and lane. It was absolutely gorgeous! I’ve walked a fair bit in this area but this walk was new to me and we only met two people the whole way around.

Few things more satisfying then filling up and walking it out, especially with friends.

There’s loads of Brakspear pubs to choose from in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, take a look on their website and organise a crumble then a rumble with friends.
