Cotswold Lavender

Cotswold Lavender

Date of Adventure: 14 May, 2023

A sight that really has to be seen to be believed as the purple is just unreal! Vibrant scenes in Cotswold Lavender and so many delights to savour: the incredible sound of goodness knows how many bees buzzing around the lavender and wildflowers, butterflies fluttering in the breeze, walking through the rows and paths just soaking up the colours and scents, and of course, the lavender ice cream! The fields stretch as far as the eye can see; they currently have over 35 different varieties of lavender, and 350,000 plants –  that will make a lot of lavender pillow spray!

This is picture opportunity heaven too! Timotei-esqe hair swishes, people looking off into the distance blue steel style, compliant children in their Sunday best posing wonderfully – charge up your senses and your cameras because you will want to capture it all!

There’s also the Wildflower Meadows to savour, Bechwood Trail full of natural play opportunities and The Cabin to treat yourself to some lavender products. There is nothing that isn’t lavender-ified here, including lavender Earl Grey tea and sugar!

The lavender is harvested at the height of summer so you only have a small window to go – don’t miss out as it’s only open for 3 months a year!

Did you

Know?

Oxford Preservation Trust bought the Victoria Arms pub in 1959 to save the nearly derelict building. Now fully renovated, this rural gem re-opened in 1984. It's still standing proud and serving Oxford’s pub-goers every day!

Fancy buying me a ko-fi?
