Cumnor Hurst

Cumnor Hurst

Date of Adventure: 6 Jun, 2023

A beautiful 17 acre community woodland nestled on top of a hill. A paradise for children with rope swings, dens, epic trees to climb and mini cows!!!

It really is the woodland of dreams and is like a mix of Wytham Woods and Faringdon Folly. Meander through the trees finding little adventures along the way and pick blackberries during the summer months. You’ll hear children’s shouts of delight echoing through the trees…honestly I’m not hamming it up, it’s pure delight!

This is a wonderful place to go to avoid the heat as there is lots of shade in the trees and plenty to keep little ones busy. There’s so many footpaths branching off the main path, the opportunities to explore are endless.

Hurst Lane, OX2 9PR. This is a bridlepath though so park on a nearby road and take the short walk down Hurst Lane. Walk nearly to the end and you will see a lane on your right, before the yellow house. Follow the lane up past the big gate until you see a kissing gate on your right, enter there and up the hill to the woodland.
