Pulpit Hill and Ninn Wood

Pulpit Hill and Ninn Wood

Date of Adventure: 2 Mar, 2025

As the days are starting to feel more spring-like with blue blue skies and the warmth of the sun on your face, get out walking! This time we went a bit further afield into the Chilterns and picked up a circular walk that was recommended to us by friends, chiefly because it is full of climbs and descents and my three boys LOVE running – and knee sliding – down hills. Some of the climbs are quite steep so do keep that in mind.

This walk will give you woodland, grasslands and gorgeous views. It was quite churned up in places from the recent rainfall but I’ve seen pictures of this walk going full throttle into spring and summer and I’ll definitely be returning when the wildflowers, butterflies and orchids are out. You’ll also pick up The Ridgeway at various points, and you know how much I love walking those ancient tracks. The walk is just under 5k and the good news is there is a pub just over half way – it’s actually the only pub that stands on The Ridgeway – which also has a few swings and excellent bowls of chips.

We ambled around this walk and it took us 3.5 hours, including a pub stop off, but you could do it much faster. Give it a go in spring or bank for summer!

Did you

Know?

Tracey Emin’s first British exhibition since 1997 was at Modern Art Oxford in 2002 and drew together the artist's now iconic neon wall hangings, drawings, etchings, film works, and a large scale sculpture installation of a pier and shack made from reclaimed timber.

Fancy buying me a ko-fi?

Want to support my work?

Feel free to buy me a (strong!) coffee, it will help fuel my adventures near and far. Support can come in many form though: sharing my website in your school WhatsApp group or liking a Facebook post is equally appreciated.
