Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium

Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium

Date of Adventure: 2 Jan, 2024

The Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium is OUT OF THIS WORLD and an absolute must-visit. Total interactive STEM heaven, everything is so engaging: a 10m long playable guitar to an ear children can actually crawl through! It’s such a seamless connection between play and learning and every opportunity is squeezed out to facilitate new discoveries.

Over 100 hands-on exhibits, live demos and explosive experiments, Explorer:Space zone  – like entering a space ship with light, sounds, buttons and interactive experiences – Bio:Space for up-close outdoor exploration, plus there’s the South Downs National park to explore too! You’ll also find the UK’s largest standalone Planetarium here (extra £4, book in advance), which is such a unique experience. We’ve been numerous times and never spent less that 6 hours here.

During the school holidays you will find different events, shows and experiences, many free with general admission. Book ahead though as these fill up fast.

A final shout out has to go to the staff: engaging, interested, excited and passionate. It makes such a difference to the visit to have people like this working within. Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium, you really are a grand day out.
